PhotoStructure on PiBox
What’s a PiBox? đź”—
A PiBox makes it easy to run self-hosted software, like PhotoStructure, at home.
It’s power-efficient (about 5W idle!), has slots for 2 SSDs (up to 16TB), and has an easy to use “app store” to install and manage the apps running on your server.
If you don’t have one yet, this link gives you 5% off: https://pibox.io/order/platform/photostructure-5
How do you set one up? đź”—

Anything special for Raspberry Pis? đź”—
Note that Raspberry Pi support is new and experimental with version 2.1, which is in alpha as of July 2022.
Importing photos and videos, especially video transcoding, is taxing for the Raspberry Pi, so PhotoStructure disables a bunch of advanced features by default when on RPi hardware.
If you’d rather PhotoStructure’s imports be thorough, you can disable “quick sync mode” through the KubeSail Dashboard:
- Click Deployments
- Select PhotoStructure
- Click the Settings tab
- Down at the bottom of the page, enter “PS_QUICK_SYNC_MODE” in the
VARIABLE_NAME
field. Click “Add” - Enter a value of
false
- Click “Save”
